A recent project for Flender involved installing a 300-tonne capacity press pit while working around an active workshop floor. Our team successfully cut out, excavated and poured the shaft and floor system with zero disruption to ongoing manufacturing operations, demonstrating our ability to deliver complex industrial solutions in challenging environments.

Nominated for a 2021 Master Builders QLD ‘Community Service Facilities’ Award, this 400m2 playcentre included a café, party rooms, storage, 2x playgrounds, and external works. We used an innovative design that allowed for an architectural finish at a competitive price, completing the expansion while the client still used adjacent facilities.

Located 240km south of Emerald, this multipurpose basketball, volleyball, netball and tennis court is now a community hub. Such a remote job involved complex procurement, including special concrete blends, gravel trucked in from Emerald and a staggered build. As an active school for most of the build, we used some logistical creativity to complete works on time and in budget – including ‘borrowing’ a local’s John Deere machine to unload trucks, rather than getting our own equipment to site and back.

We re-designed and reconstructed the Amenities block at Denison State School to create a modern, fit for purpose facility. From removing existing concrete floors to re-aligning hydraulics and drainage, our team worked from the ground up to replace walls, lay a new epoxy floor and install privacy partitions, fittings and fixtures throughout. As a school, all work had to be undertaken in holiday periods to minimise disruption.

Winning the Central Highlands Regional Council tender process, we demolished the existing clubhouse and constructed the replacement 50% larger, on the same footprint. The major challenge was maintaining temporary amenities throughout construction in an active Capella sporting season – we worked around a rodeo, two campdrafts and the footy and cricket seasons. As principal contractors, we ensured uninterrupted community sport while delivering on time and to Council specifications.

This complex project involved designing and constructing 140 tie-up stalls, four wash bays, one veterinary stall, and two Judges’ Towers, with extensive concrete footings and full construction and electrical fit-out. HWC proposed innovative off-site fabrication to minimise disruption to daily racetrack operations, particularly around the training of valuable racehorses. All work was carefully scheduled around race meetings and daily training sessions, demonstrating our ability to deliver major infrastructure while respecting particularly sensitive operational requirements.
